Hello there you lovely people,
I thought I'd leave a message with this photo since the sphinx is giving you a kiss and I'd rather like to be giving you each a kiss myself!! The photos of Egypt are absolutely amazing and it's interesting to hear all your different perspectives on what you are seeing and doing. Winton, I think you were very clever giving the heavy chess set to your dad to carry. Bad luck for you Grant! And Freya your Christmas presents sound rather nice. Will you be able to talk your parents into a second round of gift giving since Christmas happens in Egypt in January? Might be worth a try. I hope you are well too lovely Shauna and enjoying these adventures.
By the time you get this, you will have seen the new year in and I hope you will have done that in good health and happy spirits. Tricia, Catherine, Libby and I saw the new year in at Raleigh Street with pizza and champagne which was fun and low key. Tricia and I have been going to the cricket together and saw a very good match. South Africa outplayed Australia in every sense and their victory was very well deserved. It's a good thing for the new South Africa, this being the first mixed race team where all the experts agree that all members deserve their place and where Ntini is apparently the most well recognised sportsman in South Africa. Of course, the Australian papers are reporting the loss as if the world is about to crash down around our ears.
And before the cricket, it was Christmas which Rosie and I spent in Melbourne. So nice to get your message on the day. It was a busy day because we hosted it so we cooked lunch and dinner. Good to be at home all the same.
Now I will have a few days more away from work which will be good. As soon as the new year really starts to get going, I will have to start looking for a new job in earnest since the job I have comes to an end in April. So new adventures ahead for me too - I'll need an exploring spirit so I'll have to take a leaf out of your book (s).
It will be lovely to see you again which will happen in the not too distant future.
Looking forward to it already!!
Lots of love until then,
Maria xxx
PS The Cat Empire are playing with Gabrielle Cilma at Melbourne Park on 1 February - just so you know.

Great story-telling Shauna. I swam in the Dead Sea from the other side in 1995 and I agree it's an amazing feeling of buoyancy, though it was a bit cold in Feb. for me to get too enthused.

We bought Ronnie a plastic slide with one tenth of our $1000 from Kevin 07, and she loves it! She mastered the ladder in the space of 15 minutes' practice and then didn't want to come inside to have her nappy changed. (Sliding around in poo must have it's attractions)

Can't wait to see you all.
